Tulku Rinpoche asked us to practice the Buddha Sadhana on certain days of the lunar calendar. Rinpoche says as the phases of the moon affect our subtle energy channels, the effects of our positive or negative karma are multiplied on these days and so encourages us to practice together.

Each of these days is associated with a particular Buddha:

  • Medicine Buddha: Lunar8th (Waxing Half Moon)
  • Amitabha Buddha: Lunar 15th (Full Moon)
  • Buddha Shakyamuni: Lunar 30th (New Moon) 

Each of these Buddhas has a particular mantra. We will be reciting these mantras during the sadhana practice on the respective Buddha Days. You can find the images of each Buddha and their mantras here.

If you like, you can offer some food on your altar or in front of a statue of the Buddha. It should be clean (not leftovers) and something you find delicious. After the practice is done you can remove it from the altar and share with others or put outside for the animals.
